Maurice Felton succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. 26 minutes into the match, Monmouth's goal looked a bit too open when Napoleon Quinn came free, but Lenny Hartley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramon Hargrove didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Monmouth's Vito Grace shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-1 in the ordered_time% minute. After some careless play in the PURDUE defense, Vito Grace kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramon Hargrove. The PURDUE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramon Hargrove should have stopped the shot. Austin Melendez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lenny Hartley. Monmouth's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the Monmouth defense, Maurice Felton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lenny Hartley. The Monmouth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lenny Hartley should have stopped the shot. Lenny Hartley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurice Felton in the 43rd minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Maurice Felton to strike the kick off in the second half. Wiley Patten charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wiley Patten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Grace in the 71st minute of play forced PURDUE's goalkeeper Ramon Hargrove to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lenny Hartley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurice Felton, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Napoleon Quinn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lenny Hartley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurice Felton in the 80th minute of the match. If Vito Grace had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Napoleon Quinn fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PURDUE's protests and gave Napoleon Quinn a yellow card for diving instead. If Vito Grace had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Vito Grace came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Monmouth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vito Grace couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Sylvester Copeland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Monmouth getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Troy Hayes hit a great ball. There was no doubt that Monmouth were the better team. Monmouth's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
