Spectators: 7860 (Terracing: 5895, Seating: 1808, VIP seats: 157) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Salvador Goins took the kick off in the first half of the match. 5 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Christian came free, but Sam McIntyre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sam McIntyre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reynaldo Lin, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 10th minute Cícero Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Sweet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Christian kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Simon Couch kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tommy Watson during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tommy Watson hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Gilson do Vale took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pablo Sweet. Pablo Sweet dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Sergio Christian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Sam McIntyre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Reynaldo Lin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sam McIntyre was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 27 minutes, Cícero Amaral made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Poplar Tent's Pablo Sweet tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 36th match minute, Poplar Tent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Goins to maneuver through the defense. Marvin Beatty's late challenge caught a Poplar Tent's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marvin Beatty helped the player get up and apologised. 41 minutes into the match, Poplar Tent's goalkeeper Pablo Sweet had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cícero Amaral. Russ Dobbins kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Sam McIntyre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Lin in the 45th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, New York Red Bulls FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bart Boyle to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute, Sergio Christian got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls FC's Bart Boyle got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 52nd minute, Sergio Christian sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and New York Red Bulls FC's Sam McIntyre didn't even have to move. Tommy Watson was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to New York Red Bulls FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Tommy Watson hit a great ball. If Salvador Goins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sergio Christian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sam McIntyre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Christian in the 65th minute of the match. Salvador Goins's late challenge caught a New York Red Bulls FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Salvador Goins helped the player get up and apologised. Salvador Goins hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. The supporters of New York Red Bulls FC booed when Poplar Tent was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilfred Pickett didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Gilson do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 77 minutes into the match, Poplar Tent's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson do Vale came free, but Pablo Sweet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pablo Sweet stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cícero Amaral's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Sam McIntyre came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Poplar Tent's Salvador Goins. But to his dismay, Salvador Goins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Reynaldo Lin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Sam McIntyre came out and tried to block the shot, but Reynaldo Lin slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 84th minute. 87 minutes into the game, Poplar Tent's Salvador Goins nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sam McIntyre made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. Sergio Christian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute Sergio Christian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sam McIntyre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Reynaldo Lin took a quick shot and it went in 2-5 without a chance for Sam McIntyre to make any attempt to save it. When the match was over Poplar Tent could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than New York Red Bulls FC throughout the match.
