Terrence Murry made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Gilson do Vale sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rudolf Culver in the 9th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls FC's goalkeeper Sam McIntyre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Marlon Soto notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of New York Red Bulls FC's Sam McIntyre. Sam McIntyre was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rudolf Culver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rudolf Culver charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Rudolf Culver hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls FC's goal looked a bit too open when A.J. Schulz came free, but Sam McIntyre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A.J. Schulz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, bulldogs fc's Thurman Todd got a free kick in the 26th minute. Terrence Murry made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilson do Vale in the 30th minute of play. In the 35th minute, A.J. Schulz made a precise shot to the right of Sam McIntyre. New York Red Bulls FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Gilson do Vale's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Terrence Murry read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilson do Vale was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Ward Sloan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Gilson do Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Terrence Murry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Ollie McGinnis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. bulldogs fc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New York Red Bulls FC the free kick. Terrence Murry didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilson do Vale went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. If Tommy Watson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gavin Griffin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 74 minutes into the match. After 74 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for New York Red Bulls FC! If A.J. Schulz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as bulldogs fc's Rudolf Culver slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sam McIntyre. That made the score 1-3 after 80 minutes of play. New York Red Bulls FC's Sam McIntyre proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save New York Red Bulls FC from getting a goal against them.
