Ellis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fountain Inn and the Oviedo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lawrence Conley hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute Lawrence Conley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quintin Crosby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Fountain Inn's zone, Otto Denne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Quintin Crosby came out of the goal and Otto Denne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Fountain Inn's Willy Lindsey got a free kick in the 27th minute. A collision led to Fountain Inn getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. J.P. Ellis hit a great ball. If Dudley Blankenship had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Lawrence Conley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quintin Crosby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lawrence Conley in the 35th minute of the match. Fountain Inn's Quintin Crosby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lawrence Conley in the 39th minute of play. Quintin Crosby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Beasley, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute Lawrence Conley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quintin Crosby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lawrence Conley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Quintin Crosby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lawrence Conley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Oviedo's goalkeeper Bernie Gibson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Willy Lindsey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Bernie Gibson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fountain Inn's Robby Stockton managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Dario Chen in the 63 minute of the game. Otto Denne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ignacio Beasley fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oviedo's protests and gave Ignacio Beasley a yellow card for diving instead. In the 67th match minute, Oviedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ignacio Beasley to maneuver through the defense. Ignacio Beasley took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Quintin Crosby. Quintin Crosby was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Otto Denne showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 83 minute of play. In the 86th minute, Ignacio Beasley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Fountain Inn getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. J.P. Ellis hit a great ball. Trinidad James blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Quintin Crosby having to make a save. In the 91st minute, Ignacio Beasley made a precise shot to the right of Quintin Crosby. Fountain Inn's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Oviedo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
