In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alden's goalkeeper Quinton Sewell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sherwood Pujols fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quinton Sewell having to interfere. 13 minutes into the game, Quentin Belanger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stoughton the free kick. Abe Bellamy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Abe Bellamy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sherwood Welsh kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. If Abe Bellamy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abe Bellamy in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donald May saved Stoughton from getting behind. After 30 played minutes Stoughton got a freekick which was hit by Anthony Altman. Abe Bellamy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Del Carrington could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Donald May made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Alden's Quentin Belanger got a free kick in the 34th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Alden's goal looked a bit too open when Dwight Dotson came free, but Quinton Sewell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abe Bellamy struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Donald May didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alden. Quentin Belanger received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Donald May came out and tried to block the shot, but Quentin Belanger slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 42nd minute. Sherwood Pujols's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Quinton Sewell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sherwood Pujols to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dwight Dotson got free with Quinton Sewell in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Quinton Sewell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sherwood Pujols, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dwight Dotson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Quinton Sewell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 61 minutes into the game, Alden's Abe Bellamy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Donald May made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Donald May made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Del Carrington in the 69th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, Del Carrington had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Donald May. Stoughton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Del Carrington was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After 78 played minutes Alden got a freekick which was hit by Quentin Belanger. After recieving a nice pass, Stoughton's Andre Dickson tried to score from far away in the 79th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Quentin Belanger hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sherwood Pujols in the 85th minute of play forced Alden's goalkeeper Quinton Sewell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Stoughton fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 92nd minute. Penalty! Troy Smiley shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Del Carrington managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alden's supporters rose to their feet, but Del Carrington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donald May breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Abe Bellamy struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Donald May didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alden. For all the effort they put into the match, the Stoughton players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Alden.
