Byron Samuel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bennett Russ having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Mike Shaw left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bonne Terre fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 19 played minutes Carpinteria got a freekick which was hit by Rod Matson. The audience thought a goal was coming when Byron Kilgore got free with Bennett Russ in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mike Shaw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Bennett Russ tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Devin Higgins scored 2-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jon Beyer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Byron Samuels short, quick shot in the 39thth minute got Bennett Russ to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Mike Shaw had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bennett Russ made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Byron Samuel sent off a good shot on target. After 44 played minutes Bonne Terre got a freekick which was hit by Byron Samuel. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Devin Higgins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bonne Terre's Jon Beyer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Devin Higgins in the 51st minute of play. Jon Beyer was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Neal Crane showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 53 minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Neal Crane was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carpinteria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bonne Terre the free kick.
