Novatoo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laughlin the free kick. Laughlin's Tyrell Robbins was substituted for Nathaniel Bustamante. 11 minutes into the game, one of Novatoo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Laughlin. Walton Hirsch stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nicholas Wolff. 0-2. Laughlin's Jim Ruff got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute Walton Hirsch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicholas Wolff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Thomas Solis fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novatoo's protests and gave Thomas Solis a yellow card for diving instead. Thomas Solis kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match.
