With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lonnie Cervantes in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Duke Atwood saved Cimarrones FC from getting behind. Kristopher Lockett was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 7 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Cimarrones FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Carrboro:s goal. After some careless play in the Cimarrones FC defense, Lonnie Cervantes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Duke Atwood. The Cimarrones FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Duke Atwood should have stopped the shot. 24 minutes into the match, Cimarrones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jacques Doe came free, but Duke Atwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cimarrones FC's Duke Atwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lonnie Cervantes in the 29th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Cimarrones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Brandt came free, but Duke Atwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Cimarrones FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Carrboro were winning 0-2.

53 minutes into the match, John Stein had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tory Pringle. Carrboro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John Stein was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 58th minute John Stein shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tory Pringle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Cimarrones FC's goalkeeper Duke Atwood had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacques Doe. In the 70th minute, Abe Estrada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tory Pringle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Marsh in the 72nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Brandt got free with Duke Atwood in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Duke Atwood made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jacques Doe in the 76th minute. If John Stein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cimarrones FC's Duke Atwood proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Cimarrones FC from getting a goal against them. Carrboro's Tory Pringle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Stein in the 91st minute of play. Carrboro played a much better game than Cimarrones FC and deserved their victory. The Cimarrones FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
