When Harvey Dubose fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ripley's protests and gave Harvey Dubose a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, Harvey Dubose hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 8 minutes, Harvey Dubose made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harvey Dubose in the 12th minute of play. If Denis Rucker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harvey Dubose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ripley's Denis Rucker got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Harvey Dubose's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ethan Frey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Brice Stovall sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey didn't even have to move. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mathews AFC's goalkeeper Ethan Frey, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Denis Rucker came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Ripley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Rucker couldn't finish the play. If Harvey Dubose had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francis Flaherty during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Francis Flaherty hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After the first half Ripley were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cason Parks stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Mathews AFC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Harvey Cho hit a great ball. If Cason Parks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 62 minutes, Harvey Cho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mathews AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harvey Cho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ripley's Denis Rucker got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Denis Rucker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ethan Frey having to interfere. Harvey Cho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Morgan Paul having to make a save. Denis Rucker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ethan Frey made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Denis Rucker sent off a good shot on target. Ethan Frey was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Harvey Dubose capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Harvey Dubose really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Basil Edmondson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Ward Monroe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Denis Rucker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ripley's supporters rose to their feet, but Denis Rucker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ethan Frey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ripley played a much better game than Mathews AFC and deserved their victory. The Mathews AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
