FC Cincinnati's Raymundo Blankenship got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chad Whitman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wade Graham having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Chad Whitman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wade Graham was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Rocco Willard's late challenge caught a Cochituate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Walter Loomis did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Wade Graham 34 minutes into the match. After 38 played minutes FC Cincinnati got a freekick which was hit by Tom Barrow. Bryant Stallings was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 39th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Wade Graham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Walter Loomis in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the game, Gilbert Kirby was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Cincinnati's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cochituate the free kick. After having played for 44 minutes, Bryant Stallings managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cochituate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bryant Stallings was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, FC Cincinnati's Mike Sheridan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elliot Gallegos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
