Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) After a rather tough play, Effingham's Al Vigil got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After 10 played minutes Effingham got a freekick which was hit by Leo Huber. With 14 minutes on the clock, Truman Serrano commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Effingham's Leo Huber got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 26 minutes, Lee Charles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boston University's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lee Charles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Matt Roth fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boston University's protests and gave Matt Roth a yellow card for diving instead. Matt Roth kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. If Leo Huber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute of the match, Dylan Lott tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kaspar Niinep saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The crowd rose to their feet as Effingham's Leo Huber slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kaspar Niinep. That made the score 2-1 after 45 minutes of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lee Charles made a kick off. The referee felt a red card was in order, 52 minutes into the game, when Frankie Alvarado put in a rough tackle. Tuan Napier went to the wrong direction when Trenton Estes was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lee Charles got free with Tuan Napier in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Chad Hare managed to get in a good position for a shot. Effingham's supporters rose to their feet, but Chad Hare was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaspar Niinep breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Trenton Estes shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. 68 minutes into the match, Matt Roth notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Effingham's Tuan Napier. Tuan Napier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Grady Hernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tuan Napier having to interfere. Dylan Lott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaspar Niinep having to interfere. Lee Charles struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Tuan Napier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boston University. Grady Hernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tuan Napier having to interfere. Douglas Ledbetter made in the 83rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Effingham's Chad Hare. After 93 minutes, Virgil Christensen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Effingham and the Boston University players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Virgil Christensen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 95 minutes into the game, Lee Charles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Tuan Napier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 99th minute, Boston University's Grady Hernandez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Boston University walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
