Kerry Haas started the match with the kick off. Kaspar Niinep showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Haas in the 4th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Boston University's zone, Kerry Haas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kaspar Niinep came out of the goal and Kerry Haas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute Kerry Haas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaspar Niinep saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Springville booed when Boston University was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Karros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 15 minutes, Richard Karros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boston University and the Springville players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, Boston University was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Karros to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute, Mervin Palmer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Springville fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Boston University's Lee Charles got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 23 in the game by Lee Charles from a close distance when the talented Sanford Cullen managed to make a qualified save. Springville's players were relieved. The crowd rose to their feet as Danny Perdue kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sanford Cullen. That made the score 1-1 in the 24 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Boston University's Richard Karros got a free kick in the 26th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Boston University's zone, Mervin Palmer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kaspar Niinep came out of the goal and Mervin Palmer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Haas in the 34th minute of play forced Boston University's goalkeeper Kaspar Niinep to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mervin Palmer spun around in front of the goal 35 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Boston University's goal. Boston University's Danny Perdue got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Danny Perdue was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 40th minute. Boston University's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Lee Charles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Sanford Cullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danny Perdue to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Lee Charles put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Sanford Cullen. In the 56th minute Marlin Mosher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaspar Niinep saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Danny Perdue in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sanford Cullen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 58 minutes into the match, Danny Perdue had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sanford Cullen. Springville's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Danny Perdue was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Kerry Haas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kaspar Niinep made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doug Merchant in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute, Springville's Mervin Palmer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kaspar Niinep. Kaspar Niinep yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Haas in the 79th minute of play forced Boston University's goalkeeper Kaspar Niinep to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Boston University's Kaspar Niinep played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Haas in the 83rd minute of play. The supporters of Springville booed when Boston University was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Grady Hernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mervin Palmer struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Kaspar Niinep didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Springville. 87 minutes into the match, Lee Charles notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Springville's Sanford Cullen. Sanford Cullen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Springville's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
