Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sydney Cowan started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, one of Downriver AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Downriver AFC. The referee gave Sturtevant AFC a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Grant Calderon, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins. 0-1. Bennett Spence fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Higgins having to interfere. Ivan Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bennett Spence in the 13th minute of the match. Ivan Higgins didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bennett Spence went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute Sydney Cowan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Morin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ian Tompkins was extremely unlucky when he, in the 19th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Domenico Arden received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Morin came out and tried to block the shot, but Domenico Arden slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sydney Cowan in the 25th minute of play forced Sturtevant AFC's goalkeeper Benito Morin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ali Castaneda took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benito Morin. Sturtevant AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sydney Cowan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Morin came out and tried to block the shot, but Sydney Cowan slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 30th minute. Grant Calderon took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivan Higgins. Ivan Higgins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. After a rather tough play, Sturtevant AFC's Bennett Spence got a free kick in the 41st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Sydney Cowan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Downriver AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Cowan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Morin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The wind increased when Grant Calderon made the kick off in the second half. Sturtevant AFC's Benito Morin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sydney Cowan in the 63rd minute of play. Bennett Spence struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Ivan Higgins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sturtevant AFC. In the 78th minute, Sydney Cowan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Morin was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Downriver AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 86th minute, Felipe Vang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice moves Bennett Spence could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Ivan Higgins however easily saved by the left post. Benito Morin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sydney Cowan, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Sturtevant AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
