Juan Colby breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Colby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Tompkins in the 10th minute of play. Sydney Cowan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Colby having to interfere. Domenico Arden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Colby having to interfere. A collision led to Long Is Land FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Wiley Kinsey hit a great ball. The supporters of Downriver AFC booed when Long Is Land FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duncan De La Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jeff Peterson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeff Peterson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivan Higgins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Juan Colby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sydney Cowan in the 38th minute of play. Jeff Peterson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luciano Paul hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Domenico Arden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Colby having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jeff Peterson made a kick off. Juan Colby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domenico Arden in the 55th minute of play. Juan Colby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domenico Arden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Downriver AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ian Tompkins in the 59th minute. Juan Colby was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sydney Cowan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Colby having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Long Is Land FC's goalkeeper Juan Colby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oscar Tomlinson. 81 minutes into the match, Long Is Land FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sydney Cowan came free, but Juan Colby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Paul's late challenge caught a Downriver AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luciano Paul helped the player get up and apologised. When Jeff Peterson came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Long Is Land FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeff Peterson couldn't finish the play. When Ian Tompkins fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Downriver AFC's protests and gave Ian Tompkins a yellow card for diving instead. Ian Tompkins kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Sydney Cowan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Colby was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Ivan Higgins didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jeff Peterson went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The Long Is Land FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Downriver AFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
