The supporters of Sawgrass booed when Los Angeles Galaxy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Al Mims didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Los Angeles Galaxy's Namık Kemal Dersu in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Sawgrass's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Victor Coley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After 32 played minutes Sawgrass got a freekick which was hit by Heriberto Alston. Victor Coley scored 3-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duane Carbajal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Duane Carbajal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neal Collins, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Sawgrass's Hunter Sousa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Namık Kemal Dersu in the 41 minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Al Mims kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Duane Carbajal. That made the score 4-0 in the 43 minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walter Hawley was the one to do the kick off. After 50 minutes, Hunter Sousa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sawgrass and the Los Angeles Galaxy players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 50th match minute, Sawgrass was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hunter Sousa to maneuver through the defense. Ernie Cotton struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Duane Carbajal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Duane Carbajal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Duane Carbajal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Al Mims in the 66th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Al Mims's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Duane Carbajal was relentless in the 69th minute of the game.
