After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Ben Huntley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phoenix Suns Atletic's supporters rose to their feet, but Ben Huntley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Deon Biggs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 10 minutes, Micah Sampson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Woods Cross and the Phoenix Suns Atletic players grew even worse after the yellow card. Micah Sampson kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the game, Tyrese Cuevas threw the ball into play from the sideline. Phoenix Suns Atletic's Seth Deleon quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some careless play in the Woods Cross defense, Ben Huntley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Deon Biggs. The Woods Cross fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Deon Biggs should have stopped the shot. If Jesus Waller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23 played minutes Woods Cross got a freekick which was hit by Bruce McMahon. The crowd rose to their feet as Phoenix Suns Atletic's Jerrod Burroughs slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Deon Biggs. That made the score 2-0 after 29 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Woods Cross's Micah Sampson got a free kick in the 31st minute. Gustavo Blair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Deon Biggs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bill Burger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from D.J. James, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Seth Deleon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 40 played minutes, Woods Cross's Charlton Thurston shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bill Burger came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Woods Cross reached it. Gustavo Blair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Deon Biggs having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Bernardo Fink made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Micah Sampson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hank Doud hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 69 minutes into the match, Phoenix Suns Atletic's goal looked a bit too open when Bruce McMahon came free, but Bill Burger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Phoenix Suns Atletic's Seth Deleon managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Charlton Thurston in the 72 minute of the game. Ben Huntley scored 4-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Deon Biggs, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 78 minutes into the game, Phoenix Suns Atletic's Gustavo Blair nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Deon Biggs made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. During the 81st minute of the match Micah Sampson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Micah Sampson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Phoenix Suns Atletic booed when Woods Cross was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Micah Sampson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustavo Blair took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Deon Biggs. Deon Biggs dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Ben Huntley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Deon Biggs having to make a save. In the 95th minute Gustavo Blair shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Deon Biggs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jerrod Burroughs fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Phoenix Suns Atletic's protests and gave Jerrod Burroughs a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Woods Cross booed when Phoenix Suns Atletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerrod Burroughs didn't get a good kick on the ball. Phoenix Suns Atletic's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
