When Pascual Porfirio fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Houston Fire F.C.'s protests and gave Pascual Porfirio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of South Charleston FC booed when Houston Fire F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Escobedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Houston Fire F.C.'s Anson Anthony played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Solis in the 37th minute of play. Truman Hinson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernie Waldron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orville Salinas charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 72 played minutes South Charleston FC got a freekick which was hit by Hugh Park. Bernie Waldron's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Truman Hinson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Truman Hinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Deshawn Steiner, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute, Jefferson Norton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The South Charleston FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
