Spectators: 8416 (Terracing: 6310, Seating: 1938, VIP seats: 168) Inter Miami's Nicky Nichols started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Diego Burch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chris Valle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chris Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Nichols, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Riley Moss made an important save on a dangerous shot by Byron Church in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute, Bennett Petersen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Inter Miami defense, Byron Church kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Riley Moss. The Inter Miami fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Riley Moss should have stopped the shot. Nicky Nichols fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Valle having to interfere. Phoenixsun's Chris Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Burch in the 22nd minute of play. Riley Moss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boyd Coats in the 25th minute of play. If Nicky Nichols had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Riley Moss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chuck Rainey in the 28th minute of the match. Chris Valle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Burch, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Davis Mabry kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dwight Krause in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chris Valle saved Phoenixsun from getting behind. After having played for 39 minutes, Diego Burch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter Miami's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Burch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dwight Krause in the 41st minute of play forced Phoenixsun's goalkeeper Chris Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Inter Miami's Nicky Nichols in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Phoenixsun's goalie prevented a goal. Chris Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Hood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Josiah Freeman kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Rodolfo Hood scored 1-2 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Chris Valle, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

The wind increased when Chuck Rainey made the kick off in the second half. Rodolfo Hood's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 51stth minute, Chris Valle skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Nicky Nichols succeeded in the game's 53rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-3. The supporters of Phoenixsun booed when Inter Miami was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jack Esquivel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dwight Krause received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Chris Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Inter Miami's Dwight Krause in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Phoenixsun's goalie prevented a goal. Armando Bustamante kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Dwight Krause fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Valle having to interfere. Phoenixsun's Chris Valle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Phoenixsun from getting a goal against them. Chris Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Burch in the 70th minute of play. After 72 minutes, Jack Esquivel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter Miami and the Phoenixsun players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Inter Miami getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Jack Esquivel hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dwight Krause in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chris Valle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Phoenixsun defense, Diego Burch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chris Valle. The Phoenixsun fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chris Valle should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dwight Krause during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd match minute, Inter Miami was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dwight Krause to maneuver through the defense. After 85 played minutes Inter Miami got a freekick which was hit by Jack Esquivel. Riley Moss came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Phoenixsun's Chuck Rainey. But to his dismay, Chuck Rainey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Dwight Krause kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Diego Burch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chris Valle made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Rodolfo Hood sent off a good shot on target. Nicky Nichols fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Valle having to interfere. Inter Miami played a much better game than Phoenixsun and deserved their victory. The Phoenixsun players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
