In the 13th match minute, North Cape May was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Crum to maneuver through the defense. Igor Skwira spun around in front of the goal 14 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of North Cape May's goal. From close distance Igor Skwira pressed in the 1-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 17 minutes into the game. Teo Leguizamón received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Lane Moses tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Igor Skwira came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Chivas USA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Skwira couldn't finish the play. When Pedro De Gracia came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Chivas USA fans jumped to their feet. After having played for 43 minutes, Igor Skwira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chivas USA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Skwira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 46th minute by Igor Skwira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teo Leguizamón stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Chivas USA's Teo Leguizamón sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lane Moses narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernie Mathis during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lane Moses was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 60 minutes into the match, North Cape May's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Skwira came free, but Lane Moses reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Pedro De Gracia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chivas USA's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro De Gracia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lane Moses breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chivas USA's Dursun Ali Arısal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernie Mathis in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, North Cape May's Gerry Stearns got a free kick in the 75th minute. Björn-Torben Buß fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lane Moses having to interfere. After having played for 78 minutes, Juan Charro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teo Leguizamón in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lane Moses saved North Cape May from getting behind. Lane Moses came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Chivas USA's Juan Charro. But to his dismay, Juan Charro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0.
