Seating: 1900, VIP seats: 160) Chuck Rainey made the kick off and thus started the match. Lane Moses showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chuck Rainey in the 12th minute of the match. Byron Church sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, Byron Church left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phoenixsun fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. North Cape May's Lane Moses played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chuck Rainey in the 28th minute of play. Lane Moses made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chuck Rainey in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Phoenixsun's goalkeeper Chris Valle, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 37th minute Byron Church shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lane Moses saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tyrell Allison hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Chuck Rainey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenixsun's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chuck Rainey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th match minute, North Cape May was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tyrell Allison to maneuver through the defense. Byron Church struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Lane Moses didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenixsun. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bernie Mathis to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match Vincenzo Serrano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chris Valle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Phoenixsun's Dante Christensen got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Bernie Mathis managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Cape May's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernie Mathis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chris Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, North Cape May's Theo Crum got a free kick in the 58th minute. Lane Moses showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chuck Rainey, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Chris Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernie Mathis in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chris Valle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raymond Mullins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Chris Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Byron Church fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lane Moses having to interfere. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
