The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Freddie Farris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teo Leguizamón in the 8th minute of the match. Chivas USA's Dursun Ali Arısal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tim Davila in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Rebel Squids's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Skwira came free, but Freddie Farris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Monty Kruse hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Freddie Farris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro De Gracia in the 17th minute of play. Freddie Farris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Charro in the 24th minute. Rebel Squids's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Juan Charro scored to the left of an out of position Freddie Farris, making the score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Chivas USA's zone, Tim Davila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dursun Ali Arısal came out of the goal and Tim Davila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Freddie Farris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teo Leguizamón in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rebel Squids's Rodrick Hardy got a free kick in the 44th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Teo Leguizamón to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Skwira in the 52nd minute of play forced Rebel Squids's goalkeeper Freddie Farris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddie Farris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Igor Skwira in the 57th minute of play. The supporters of Rebel Squids booed when Chivas USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teo Leguizamón didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd minute, Tim Davila got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
