Rebel Squids's Freddie Farris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Devon Goins in the 31st minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Rebel Squids's goal looked a bit too open when Ernie Werner came free, but Freddie Farris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Phoenixsun's Chris Valle got control of the ball when Tim Davila tried to sneak it across the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Tim Davila made the kick off in the second half. Freddie Farris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Devon Goins in the 52nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Phoenixsun's zone, Tim Davila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Valle came out of the goal and Tim Davila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Phoenixsun's Byron Church got a free kick in the 80th minute. Freddie Farris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Devon Goins in the 82nd minute of play. After having played for 84 minutes, Ernie Werner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenixsun's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernie Werner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Phoenixsun's zone, Tim Davila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Valle came out of the goal and Tim Davila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, Tim Davila got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Rebel Squids's goalkeeper Freddie Farris had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Byron Church. In the 96th minute Rodrick Hardy suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Josiah Freeman during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Josiah Freeman hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Rebel Squids were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Phoenixsun to leave the ground with a draw.
