In the 27thth minute of the game Scott Blue who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Banfield FI's Markus Bachman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Markus Bachman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danial Vega in the 32nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Len McAllister in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafael Valle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Jose Irizarry fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Minnesota United's protests and gave Jose Irizarry a yellow card for diving instead. Jose Irizarry hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. When Banfield FI's Len McAllister in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Rafael Valle was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Len McAllister to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Len McAllister in the 51st minute of play forced Minnesota United's goalkeeper Rafael Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Maurício Roriz got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rafael Valle quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Len McAllister came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Banfield FI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Len McAllister couldn't finish the play. In the 57th minute, Maurício Roriz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 59 minutes into the game, Phillip Dobbins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Minnesota United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Banfield FI the free kick. Quinton Rivers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Valle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 68th minute, Quinton Rivers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Banfield FI fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. If Len McAllister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Ledochowski in the 74th minute of play forced Minnesota United's goalkeeper Rafael Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Banfield FI's Quinton Rivers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafael Valle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Stan Craft made a precise shot to the right of Rafael Valle. Minnesota United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. Rafael Valle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leon Ledochowski in the 80th minute of the match. Stan Craft recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Len McAllister blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafael Valle having to make a save. In the 83rdth minute of the game Len McAllister who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Minnesota United's Rafael Valle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 85 minutes into the game, Len McAllister cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Rafael Valle was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 88 played minutes Minnesota United got a freekick which was hit by Rodger Alvarez. Rafael Valle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurício Roriz in the 89th minute of the match.
