A very good chance. 24 minutes into the match, Illinois Bluewaters's goal looked a bit too open when Hank Blackburn came free, but Roger Myles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28thth minute of the game Wesley Driscoll who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Illinois Bluewaters's Roger Myles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Isto Holttinen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Markham FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Isto Holttinen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Myles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roger Myles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hank Blackburn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isto Holttinen took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roger Myles. Roger Myles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After having played for 42 minutes, Isto Holttinen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Markham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isto Holttinen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Roger Myles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Markham FC played a much better game than Illinois Bluewaters and deserved their victory. The Illinois Bluewaters players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
