The goalkeeper, Marc Anthonissen, was totally fooled by empanadas's Boleslaw Labus, who 13 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Humberto Baptista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

SeaForD made a substitution. Mano Loco replaced Salvador Calcagnini. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Octavio Garcia to make the kick off. Harold Loozen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Baptista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play.
