If Dale Kirkpatrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, University of Rochester's goal looked a bit too open when Shelton Flanagan came free, but Drew Casey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute The Team FC were awarded a corner. Raul Bowen went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Raul Bowen got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Drew Casey quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 19th minute, Maxwell Calcagnini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Otis Short kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Drew Casey acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 26th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Marcus Fransson. Cao Shi Yis short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Drew Casey to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience was convinced that Cao Shi Yi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Drew Casey was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Drew Casey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cao Shi Yi in the 30th minute. Dale Kirkpatrick scored 0-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aníbal Lorenzi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cao Shi Yi got free with Drew Casey in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42nd minute, Maxwell Calcagnini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the match, University of Rochester's goalkeeper Drew Casey had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cao Shi Yi. After 47 played minutes University of Rochester got a freekick which was hit by Wayne Bragg. After recieving a nice pass, The Team FC's Raul Bowen tried to score from far away in the 48th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Dale Kirkpatrick made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, University of Rochester's Ernesto Cao Xiao got a free kick in the 60th minute. Cao Shi Yi took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Drew Casey. Drew Casey dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The Team FC made a substitution. Grant Foote replaced Raul Bowen. A throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game was made by Gerald Bradshaw with Cao Shi Yi as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 73rd minute, Gerald Bradshaw hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Dale Kirkpatrick managed to get in a good position for a shot. University of Rochester's supporters rose to their feet, but Dale Kirkpatrick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aníbal Lorenzi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. University of Rochester's Drew Casey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shelton Flanagan in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Otis Short ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Drew Casey was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. When Dale Kirkpatrick came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the University of Rochester fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dale Kirkpatrick couldn't finish the play. Drew Casey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shelton Flanagan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
