After a rather tough play, Western Springs FC's Charlie Armenta got a free kick in the 13th minute. Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Bowen in the 14th minute of play. Aníbal Lorenzi made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Emmanuel Corley sent off a good shot on target. 24 minutes into the match, Western Springs FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cao Shi Yi came free, but Hal Mackey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cao Shi Yi took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hal Mackey. Hal Mackey dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otis Short in the 29th minute of play forced Western Springs FC's goalkeeper Hal Mackey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Garrett Brock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aníbal Lorenzi having to interfere. Hal Mackey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cao Shi Yi, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emmanuel Corley made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Otis Short got free with Hal Mackey in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hal Mackey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Otis Short, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 57 played minutes Western Springs FC got a freekick which was hit by Stevie Goddard. Hal Mackey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cao Shi Yi in the 59th minute of the match. Hal Mackey made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Cao Shi Yi sent off a good shot on target. When The Team FC's Otis Short in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
