Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgardo Silva in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Farid Mondragón prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The corner ended in Glen Conklin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón did a great save. Eric Snowden's late challenge caught a New England Minas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Snowden helped the player get up and apologised. After 45 played minutes C. A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Eric Snowden. When Tomas Gustafson fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Independiente's protests and gave Tomas Gustafson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Gustafson to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Farid Mondragón breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by C. A. Independiente's Kerry Sellers. But to his dismay, Kerry Sellers quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The New England Minas players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented C. A. Independiente from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
