An unexpectedly hard shot by Edwin 雷震南 in the 6th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th match minute, American Airlines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Cannata to maneuver through the defense. After 16 minutes, Kerry Sellers made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. American Airlines's Arvin Hökkvist tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. American Airlines's Arvin Hökkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 19th minute of play. Sidney Forbes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arvin Hökkvist having to interfere. In the 23rd minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arvin Hökkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When C. A. Farid Mondragón was a little too slow when Anoush Khalatbari got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 1-2. Farid Mondragón came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by American Airlines's Anoush Khalatbari. But to his dismay, Anoush Khalatbari quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Arvin Hökkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Sellers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42ndth minute of the game Anoush Khalatbari who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, Anoush Khalatbari stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Farid Mondragón came out of the goal and Anoush Khalatbari tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney Forbes made a kick off. In the 64th match minute, American Airlines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jed Jewell to maneuver through the defense. American Airlines's Arvin Hökkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 65th minute of play. Farid Mondragón stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anoush Khalatbari's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonah Ryan in the 90th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see American Airlines lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
