In the 9th minute, Mateo Antoniano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Nuxila Botbol came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Ciudad del Este fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuxila Botbol couldn't finish the play. Deportivo San Lorenzo's Chaime Vilarrubia managed to work through Ciudad del Este's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Chaime Vilarrubia dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. When Maximo Hurtaran came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Ciudad del Este fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximo Hurtaran couldn't finish the play. Deportivo San Lorenzo's Porfirio Guedella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateo Antoniano in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Maximo Hurtaran made a precise shot to the right of Porfirio Guedella. Deportivo San Lorenzo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Porfirio Guedella made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateo Antoniano in the 23rd minute of play. After 25 minutes of play, Ciudad del Este's Mateo Antoniano made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Porfirio Guedella was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 28th minute, Nuxila Botbol got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nuxila Botbol might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Porfirio Guedella. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nuxila Botbol ran back to his position shaking his head. Checa Bayona hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Guillem Arbulo hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Deportivo San Lorenzo's Sancho Echavarria got a free kick in the 36th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ciudad del Este's zone, Xamin Capitan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jiang Hong Chen came out of the goal and Xamin Capitan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Humberto Atauri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute, Chaime Vilarrubia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Humberto Atauri stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Deportivo San Lorenzo defense, Mateo Antoniano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Porfirio Guedella. The Deportivo San Lorenzo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Porfirio Guedella should have stopped the shot. Deportivo San Lorenzo's Porfirio Guedella proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo San Lorenzo from getting a goal against them. If Xamin Capitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Porfirio Guedella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuxila Botbol in the 82nd minute of the match. After 90 minutes Ciudad del Este's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Chaime Vilarrubia who took care of the corner kick. After a defensive mix-up in Ciudad del Este's zone, Xamin Capitan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jiang Hong Chen came out of the goal and Xamin Capitan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ciudad del Este eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
