After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Nel Artieta got a free kick in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Mondrevilla came free, but Gilesindo Elguera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jeronimo Sarra during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A hard shot by Dabi Garonaga from long distance, 25 minutes into the match, got Gilesindo Elguera's attention. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yoelvis Marsol in the 47th minute of play forced Ypacarai's goalkeeper Gelacio Burguete to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Florentino Area stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lesardo Barrio hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Lesardo Barrio charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lesardo Barrio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th match minute, Ypacarai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lesardo Barrio to maneuver through the defense. If Florentino Area had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Ypacarai defense, Yoelvis Marsol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gelacio Burguete. The Ypacarai fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gelacio Burguete should have stopped the shot. Gilesindo Elguera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evelio Sayas in the 77th minute of the match. If Evelio Sayas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves Yoelvis Marsol could shoot a difficult shot in the 83rd minute, which Gelacio Burguete however easily saved by the left post. 83 minutes into the match, Yoelvis Marsol dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gelacio Burguete, 0-3. Gilesindo Elguera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evelio Sayas in the 93rd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Montevideo walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
