Teofilo Lecubarri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lixandro Balado having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 7 minutes, Lixandro Balado successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 8 minutes into the match, Cerro Porteño F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Teofilo Lecubarri came free, but Lixandro Balado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ferran Frera during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Asunción FC booed when Cerro Porteño F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferran Frera didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute, Asunción FC's Primo Elberdin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 14th minute, Primo Elberdin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Cerro Porteño F.C.'s Ferran Frera got a free kick in the 15th minute. After having played for 18 minutes, Primo Elberdin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Asunción FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Primo Elberdin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pueblo Cerdeira in the 19th minute of play forced Asunción FC's goalkeeper Leandro Arraya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lixandro Balado didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 21st minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. 24 minutes into the match, Cerro Porteño F.C.'s goalkeeper Lixandro Balado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teofilo Lecubarri. Lixandro Balado didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 26th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. Lixandro Balado made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Teofilo Lecubarri sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute, Teofilo Lecubarri left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Asunción FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teofilo Lecubarri got free with Lixandro Balado in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Primo Elberdin in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lixandro Balado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Primo Elberdin might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lixandro Balado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Primo Elberdin ran back to his position shaking his head. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

In the 51st minute Colon Castorena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lixandro Balado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 52 minutes into the match, Colon Castorena notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Cerro Porteño F.C.'s Lixandro Balado. Lixandro Balado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Primo Elberdin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the game, Laureano Borroel recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Leandro Arraya. Laureano Borroel showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-1. Cerro Porteño F.C.'s Lixandro Balado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teofilo Lecubarri in the 62nd minute of play. In the 64th minute, Ferran Frera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teofilo Lecubarri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Primo Elberdin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lixandro Balado was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pueblo Cerdeira got free with Leandro Arraya in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Pumar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lixandro Balado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Primo Elberdin in the 80th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Cerro Porteño F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Vitorino Osma came free, but Lixandro Balado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Moncho Soliz kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. If Primo Elberdin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Asunción FC's Colon Castorena got a free kick in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute, Primo Elberdin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Asunción FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
