Frederico Herrador was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Frederico Herrador took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eriberto Hermida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cerro Porteño's Frederico Herrador played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iraunkor Aguilera in the 9th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cerro Porteño's Aldo Ardazun got a free kick in the 13th minute. After 20 played minutes, Cerro Porteño's Aldo Vidania shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rainerio Recasens came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cerro Porteño reached it. 24 minutes into the match, Oswaldo Crespin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rainerio Recasens. Atlético Horqueta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oswaldo Crespin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Frederico Herrador stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eriberto Hermida's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. When Prejun Nuñez fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cerro Porteño's protests and gave Prejun Nuñez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 30th minute, Prejun Nuñez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 32 played minutes Cerro Porteño got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Robredo. After 33 played minutes Florin Besteiro shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for Cerro Porteño's Frederico Herrador to catch but Florin Besteiro was lucky. It became 1-3 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. In the 44th minute, Eriberto Hermida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Horqueta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

Tadzio Hero's late challenge caught a Cerro Porteño's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tadzio Hero helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st minute, Tadzio Hero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frederico Herrador made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Eriberto Hermida sent off a good shot on target. With his leg Frederico Herrador managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Atlético Horqueta's Eriberto Hermida fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 68th minute Iraunkor Aguilera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederico Herrador saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Tadzio Hero was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 69 minutes had been played. In the 70th match minute, Atlético Horqueta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadzio Hero to maneuver through the defense. Frederico Herrador made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eriberto Hermida in the 72nd minute. In the 73rd minute, Godofredo Campos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cerro Porteño's zone, Eriberto Hermida stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frederico Herrador came out of the goal and Eriberto Hermida tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Iraunkor Aguilera came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Atlético Horqueta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iraunkor Aguilera couldn't finish the play. The Atlético Horqueta fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Atlético Horqueta's Iraunkor Aguilera looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Eriberto Hermida who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Frederico Herrador when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Atlético Horqueta's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
