In the 17th minute, Johannes Tidén made a precise shot to the right of Frederico Herrador. Cerro Porteño's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Johannes Tidén got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Cerro Porteño getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Gitano Noguer hit a great ball. If Johannes Tidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The Caaguazu fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Caaguazu's Jorge Torcida looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. In the 41st minute, Paulin Ungia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Torcida blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frederico Herrador having to make a save. After having played for 43 minutes, Jorge Torcida managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caaguazu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Torcida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Torcida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederico Herrador having to interfere. When Aldo Vidania fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cerro Porteño's protests and gave Aldo Vidania a yellow card for diving instead. Aldo Vidania hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oswaldo Crespin made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johannes Tidén in the 53rd minute of play forced Cerro Porteño's goalkeeper Frederico Herrador to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miliano Roza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Johannes Tidén scored 6-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frederico Herrador, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Johannes Tidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 63 minutes, Oswaldo Crespin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cerro Porteño's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Crespin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frederico Herrador made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johannes Tidén in the 65th minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Caaguazu's Johannes Tidén nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frederico Herrador made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. If Johannes Tidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Torcida took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frederico Herrador. Frederico Herrador dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-0. In the 83rd minute, Jorge Torcida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caaguazu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 10-0. 90 minutes into the match, Cerro Porteño's goal looked a bit too open when Johannes Tidén came free, but Frederico Herrador reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cerro Porteño's Frederico Herrador played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Torcida in the 98th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Caaguazu fully deserved thier win.
