When Juan José Corrales came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the La Vega fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan José Corrales couldn't finish the play. If Juan José Corrales had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio Espaillat in the 14th minute of play forced Cabarete CF's goalkeeper Buenaventura Montañas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Buenaventura Montañas came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by La Vega's Fabio Espaillat. But to his dismay, Fabio Espaillat quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Américo Peterson made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Alfonso Cabral sent off a good shot on target. Américo Peterson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Zambrano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geovanny Sosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buenaventura Montañas having to interfere. A collision led to Cabarete CF getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Silvestre Portillo hit a great ball. Américo Peterson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Zambrano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ivan Zambrano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, La Vega's Fabio Espaillat got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Alfonso Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Buenaventura Montañas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabio Espaillat struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Buenaventura Montañas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Vega.
