Pedernales UC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Celio Caminero in the 26th minute. After taking down the ball on Pedernales UC's corner Celio Caminero fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ariel Halle quite easily take care of the ball. In the 29th minute, Humberto Patterson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedernales UC's Rodrigo Estévez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamín Medina in the 31st minute of play. In the 44th minute Benjamín Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Estévez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Guayaubín UDC's Humberto Patterson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rodrigo Estévez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Calisto Banister made a kick off. Pedernales UC were furious when Celio Caminero was red carded, 53 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 52 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Pedernales UC! Rodrigo Estévez went to the wrong direction when Wilfredo Espinal was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Rodrigo Estévez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamín Medina in the 64th minute of play. In the 67th minute Benjamín Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Estévez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benjamín Medina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Guayaubín UDC's Ariel Halle got control of the ball when Ed Melgar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 86th match minute, Guayaubín UDC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Brizuela to maneuver through the defense. Guayaubín UDC's Ariel Halle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Guayaubín UDC from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the Pedernales UC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Guayaubín UDC.
