Zacarías Ulibarri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valentin Lagos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Grêmio's Zacarías Ulibarri got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Octavio Montemayor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentin Lagos having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zacarías Ulibarri in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valentin Lagos saved Bahía from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Grêmio's Vladimir Aguirre got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 42nd minute, Vladimir Aguirre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Baudelio Casas took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Homero Bravo. In the 74th minute, Virgilio Reyna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Homero Bravo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 77 minutes into the match, Zacarías Ulibarri notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Bahía's Valentin Lagos. Valentin Lagos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
