Elías Willick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urbano Sarabia, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Urbano Sarabia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. HORTA UA's Elías Willick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urbano Sarabia in the 23rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Óscar Cooper in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leo Seijas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jeronimo Andrews charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeronimo Andrews the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jeronimo Andrews hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 27 minutes into the game, one of San Juan:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave HORTA UA a penalty, 28 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Charlie Barreiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of San Juan's Leo Seijas. 1-0. 37 minutes into the match, HORTA UA's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Madrid came free, but Elías Willick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Peterson in the 41st minute of play forced San Juan's goalkeeper Leo Seijas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elías Willick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Madrid, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Urbano Sarabia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vladimir Madrid made a kick off. Urbano Sarabia didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 2-1 via right post in the game's 52nd minute. San Juan's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! In the 56th minute of the match Charlie Barreiro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leo Seijas skillfully saved the ball. Óscar Cooper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Seijas having to interfere. The supporters of HORTA UA booed when San Juan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eder Caballero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute, Marino Almaguer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vladimir Madrid fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elías Willick having to interfere. When Marino Almaguer fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HORTA UA's protests and gave Marino Almaguer a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of San Juan booed when HORTA UA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Almaguer didn't get a good kick on the ball. San Juan's Leo Seijas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Óscar Cooper in the 70th minute of play. If Flavio Peterson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elías Willick acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 75th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Edwar Benavides. 78 minutes into the match, HORTA UA's goalkeeper Elías Willick had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eder Caballero. After 80 played minutes HORTA UA got a freekick which was hit by Milton Zavala. After 82nd play minutes Urbano Sarabia shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Elías Willick and just under the crossbar into goal. San Juan's Bartolomé Osorio was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Elías Willick in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the match clock showed 97 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Vladimir Madrid sped through HORTA UA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Elías Willick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched San Juan eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
