El Llano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfonso Turnbull was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lázaro Peñalba made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Yorkis Esquivel sent off a good shot on target. After the first half Garabito were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yorkis Esquivel to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Garabito's Norberto Ulloa got a free kick in the 59th minute. Bruno Mercedes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Luis Vega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norberto Ulloa came free with the goalkeeper in the 71st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bruno Mercedes could save by the left post. 73 minutes into the game, El Llano's Yorkis Esquivel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lázaro Peñalba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 84th minute, Tilson Caamaño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lázaro Peñalba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfonso Turnbull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Garabito defense, Yorkis Esquivel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lázaro Peñalba. The Garabito fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lázaro Peñalba should have stopped the shot. El Llano's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
