After 20 minutes, Juan Luis Villanueva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nirgua FC and the El Peñón FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Nirgua FC's Juan Luis Villanueva got a free kick in the 20th minute. Rico Diaz was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 25 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Peñón FC's goalkeeper Adolfo Zambrano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Isidoro Ledesma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Isidoro Ledesma made a precise shot to the right of Ozzie Salinas. Nirgua FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. In the 80th minute Anthony Canal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ozzie Salinas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ozzie Salinas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isidoro Ledesma in the 81st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isidoro Ledesma got free with Ozzie Salinas in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
