After 20 played minutes, Cutler Ridge's Murat Kazanhan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jean-Michel Abdenouz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cutler Ridge reached it. Faouzi Mansouri took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jean-Michel Abdenouz. Jean-Michel Abdenouz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 25 minutes into the match, Cutler Ridge's Faouzi Mansouri sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jean-Michel Abdenouz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Faouzi Mansouri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Faouzi Mansouri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Michel Abdenouz having to interfere. After 39 played minutes Grand Island AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jussef Bellemou Messaoud. A collision led to Cutler Ridge getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Noureddine Zaaf hit a great ball. Karim Madjer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Michel Abdenouz having to interfere. After the first half Cutler Ridge were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Karim Madjer to strike the kick off in the second half. When Karim Madjer came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Cutler Ridge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karim Madjer couldn't finish the play. Cutler Ridge's Karim Madjer got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 60th minute, Mouloud Kensi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Grand Island AFC's Karim Al-Jazairia pulled a muscle in his leg after 63 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 63 minutes, Mohammed Lelouch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cutler Ridge and the Grand Island AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cutler Ridge's Lakhdar Assad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdelaziz Rahouli in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Cutler Ridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maamar Sadmi to maneuver through the defense. If Benamar Fillali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
