The crowd rose to their feet as Lyons AFC's Hakim Benaouf slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Belmadi Benhabiles. That made the score 1-1 after 16 minutes of play. Belmadi Benhabiles made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Fateh Aribi sent off a good shot on target. Hakim Benaouf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fateh Aribi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fateh Aribi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Belmadi Benhabiles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Belmadi Benhabiles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hakim Benaouf, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind İstanbul United's goalkeeper Belmadi Benhabiles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mustapha El-Hadi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
