Tedj Hamdani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ahmed Yahia having to interfere. Fodil Saïdi-Sief received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Ahmed Yahia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Cambridge City's goalkeeper Ahmed Yahia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fodil Saïdi-Sief. After 17 played minutes Cambridge City got a freekick which was hit by Leon Sadmi. After 27 played minutes Lake Forest got a freekick which was hit by Mehdi Messaoud. 35 minutes into the game, Cambridge City's El Bensaoula nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nadir Aggoune made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, Cambridge City's Mohammed Ahmed Ahmed got a free kick in the 38th minute. When Hameur Meriem fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cambridge City's protests and gave Hameur Meriem a yellow card for diving instead. After 40 played minutes Cambridge City got a freekick which was hit by Hameur Meriem. Lake Forest's Fodil Assad couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 41st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cambridge City.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when El Bensaoula stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lake Forest's Nadir Aggoune played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by El Bensaoula in the 51st minute of play. El Bensaoula received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nadir Aggoune came out and tried to block the shot, but El Bensaoula slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 56th minute. In the 62nd minute of the match, Nordine Belkacem got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nadir Aggoune was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A hard shot 63 in the game by Nordine Belkacem from a close distance when the talented Nadir Aggoune managed to make a qualified save. Lake Forest's players were relieved. Nadir Aggoune stood somewhat misplaced when El Bensaoula came free in front of goal and shot 0-4 to the left of him in the 71 minute. Tedj Hamdani scored 1-4 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ahmed Yahia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, El Bensaoula managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cambridge City's supporters rose to their feet, but El Bensaoula was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nadir Aggoune breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling El Bensaoula in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nadir Aggoune prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fodil Saïdi-Sief in the 90th minute of play forced Cambridge City's goalkeeper Ahmed Yahia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nordine Belkacem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. El Bensaoula recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cambridge City's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
