That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Merrionette's goal looked a bit too open when Lounès Sakhri came free, but Cheb Meniri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cheb Meniri made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Joos Gallot sent off a good shot on target. Ahmed Mesbah made in the 15th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Thelma Dib. Joos Gallot could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Cheb Meniri made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul Classon got free with Cheb Meniri in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fouad Souakri during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Joos Gallot managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sun Super Stars's supporters rose to their feet, but Joos Gallot was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cheb Meniri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zīn ud-Dīn Fadhil Mohamed hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Sun Super Stars's Lounès Sakhri slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cheb Meniri. That made the score 2-0 after 46 minutes of play.

The supporters of Merrionette booed when Sun Super Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fouad Souakri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Merrionette's Djabir Ghozali managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Thelma Dib in the 57 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joos Gallot in the 61st minute of play forced Merrionette's goalkeeper Cheb Meniri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ahmed Mesbah was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 63 minutes had been played. Ahmed Mesbah hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Lounès Sakhri made in the 67th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Joos Gallot. After a defensive mix-up in Merrionette's zone, Joos Gallot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cheb Meniri came out of the goal and Joos Gallot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thelma Dib kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Merrionette's zone, Paul Classon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cheb Meniri came out of the goal and Paul Classon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Khair ad-Din Kermali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 90 minutes, Joos Gallot managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sun Super Stars's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joos Gallot was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 93 minutes into the game, Lounès Sakhri threw the ball into play from the sideline. Merrionette's Djabir Ghozali quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sun Super Stars had played much better football throughout.
