When the match clock showed 9 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Abdelmalek Moussa sped through Coventry City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hocine Morceli. Abdelmalek Moussa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tayeb Kourichi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Lewes's Mustapha Ghazi got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute Hameur Amara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daho Yacef saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Abdelhani Hadjadj fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coventry City's protests and gave Abdelhani Hadjadj a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Coventry City getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Abdelhani Hadjadj hit a great ball. Hocine Morceli was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Hocine Cixous. When Chakib Medaci fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lewes's protests and gave Chakib Medaci a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Coventry City booed when Lewes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chakib Medaci didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute of the match Hameur Amara shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Daho Yacef showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ali Sadmi kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Mustapha Ghazi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Hocine Morceli skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a rather tough play, Coventry City's Hameur Amara got a free kick in the 40th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ali Sadmi made a kick off. In the 56th minute, Mustapha Ghazi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Coventry City's Toufik Douibi quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Tayeb Kourichi, made in the 58th minute of the game. Daho Yacef showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hameur Amara in the 60th minute of the match. When Mustapha Ghazi was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 62 minutes had been played. 63 minutes into the game, Mohammad Kaci Madjer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coventry City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lewes the free kick. A collision led to Coventry City getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Mohammad Kaci Madjer hit a great ball. After having played for 67 minutes, Abdelmalek Moussa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lewes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abdelmalek Moussa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 69thth minute of the game Abdelmalek Moussa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coventry City's Hocine Morceli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ali Sadmi kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Souad Ghazi's late challenge caught a Coventry City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Souad Ghazi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th match minute, Lewes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Souad Ghazi to maneuver through the defense. Abdelmalek Moussa struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Hocine Morceli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lewes. In the 83rd minute Abdelmalek Moussa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hocine Morceli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abdelmalek Moussa might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hocine Morceli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abdelmalek Moussa ran back to his position shaking his head. Hameur Amara did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Daho Yacef 89 minutes into the match. Hocine Morceli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hocine Cixous in the 92nd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lewes fans cheered their team off the field, for while Coventry City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
