With a little luck, Coventry City's Hocine Morceli got control of the ball when Fawzi Hanin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hocine Morceli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lawrence Jetzer in the 16th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Lawrence Jetzer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hocine Morceli. That made the score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. In the 25th minute, Lawrence Jetzer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Fawzi Hanin took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Hocine Morceli to make any attempt to save it. Hocine Morceli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 韩锋昂 in the 36th minute of play. Brasil Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dida Besseghir, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mohamed Hindi during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 40 played minutes Coventry City got a freekick which was hit by Mohamed Hindi.

When Mohamed Hindi was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 60 minutes had been played. Zenit FC's Kader Zidane was substituted for 武宇明. After 62 played minutes Coventry City got a freekick which was hit by Mohamed Hindi. Coventry City's Hocine Morceli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lawrence Jetzer in the 63rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Coventry City's zone, Fawzi Hanin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hocine Morceli came out of the goal and Fawzi Hanin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the game, Zenit FC's Fawzi Hanin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Zenit FC fully deserved thier win.
