The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Taipullo AFC's goalkeeper Juan Estevan Baltra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 38th minute, Florín Ortuguren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juan Estevan Baltra was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 42 minutes into the game, Mark Soto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taipullo AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abtao the free kick. The supporters of Abtao booed when Taipullo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Soto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernesto Daniel Sierra's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Juan Estevan Baltra - 2-0 was put on the score board in the 43rd minute. If José Alejandro Solorzano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Justo Daguerressar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Florín Ortuguren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Juan Estevan Baltra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Abtao's goalkeeper Luciano Beca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joaquin Lanz. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 89 minutes of play, Abtao's Florín Ortuguren made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juan Estevan Baltra was left in no man's land by his defense there! Many of Taipullo AFC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Taipullo AFC may have spent more time on the ball, but Abtao were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
