The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Palpaico's goal looked a bit too open when Visen Srain came free, but Jasone Monge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Teofilio Ascuí came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Palpaico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teofilio Ascuí couldn't finish the play. Troyo FC's Francisco Martín Nicolau proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Troyo FC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Eloi Ossandon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Troyo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eloi Ossandon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jasone Monge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jasone Monge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eloi Ossandon in the 17th minute of play. Troyo FC's José Julio Sáez got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 21st minute, Abraham Devia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jasone Monge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eloi Ossandon in the 23rd minute of the match. Jasone Monge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Julio Sáez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palpaico's goalkeeper Jasone Monge, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. José Julio Sáez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jasone Monge having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Visen Srain made a precise shot to the right of Jasone Monge. Palpaico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Teofilio Ascuí might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Martín Nicolau. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teofilio Ascuí ran back to his position shaking his head. Teofilio Ascuí sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teofilio Ascuí could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Francisco Martín Nicolau made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teofilio Ascuí got free with Francisco Martín Nicolau in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Teofilio Ascuí received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Francisco Martín Nicolau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Inacio Gadano came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Palpaico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Inacio Gadano couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Julio Sáez made a kick off. In the 56th minute, Teofilio Ascuí ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Martín Nicolau was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Inacio Gadano kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Palpaico's Jasone Monge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Palpaico from getting a goal against them. When Teofilio Ascuí came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Palpaico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teofilio Ascuí couldn't finish the play. Stephen Paltorp was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 82 minutes into the match. A collision led to Palpaico getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Stephen Paltorp hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Palpaico's zone, Luciano Zorondo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jasone Monge came out of the goal and Luciano Zorondo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Troyo FC's Javiero Bout got a free kick in the 88th minute. Franco Butto hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. When Troyo FC's José Julio Sáez in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Palpaico's goalie prevented a goal. In the 96th minute, Troyo FC's José Julio Sáez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jasone Monge. Jasone Monge yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Chants of Troyo FC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Palpaico had held the ball for most of the match.
