The referee ignored Churrascas's protests and gave Odín Burboa a yellow card for diving instead. After 36 played minutes Churrascas got a freekick which was hit by Odín Burboa. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Rosalio Maier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cautinicsa's supporters rose to their feet, but Rosalio Maier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Trujillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alfonso Duval fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Trujillo having to interfere. After the first half Churrascas were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 53 minutes of play, Cautinicsa's Rosalio Maier made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Churrascas's Paulo Trujillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Duval in the 62nd minute of play. Cautinicsa's Rosalio Maier managed to work through Churrascas's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Rosalio Maier dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Josías Píriz hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match.
