The audience was convinced that Armin Palmisano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Quentín Porte was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Armin Palmisano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Quentín Porte made a huge save. Armin Palmisano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 14th minute Armin Palmisano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quentín Porte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Quellon AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolo Luzaide came free, but Quentín Porte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armin Palmisano in the 18th minute of play forced Quellon AFC's goalkeeper Quentín Porte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Quentín Porte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bartolo Luzaide in the 21st minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Quellon AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Universidad de Chile:s goal. The supporters of Quellon AFC booed when Universidad de Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Markus Parrau didn't get a good kick on the ball. Armin Palmisano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Firmín Lattanzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darryl Gunn having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Bartolo Luzaide fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Firmín Lattanzi was the one to do the kick off. Darryl Gunn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Firmín Lattanzi in the 52nd minute. Quentín Porte came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Universidad de Chile's Armin Palmisano. But to his dismay, Armin Palmisano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Bartolo Luzaide blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Quentín Porte having to make a save. Quentín Porte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolo Luzaide in the 69th minute of the match. When Bartolo Luzaide came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Universidad de Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartolo Luzaide couldn't finish the play. Ceandro Castelblanco struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Quentín Porte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universidad de Chile. Universidad de Chile's Armin Palmisano got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Universidad de Chile players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
